Client Challenge: Design a data center that meets “Tier 3” requirements and will withstand an F3 tornado while qualifying for LEED Silver Certification, a requirement for all new construction at University of Iowa facilities.

SVPA Solution: The new data center will support the academic/administrative and collegiate-hosted services, hospital computing (HCIS) and research computing. In order to meet LEEd criteria, the main building material will be precast concrete. In addition, high efficiency mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems will be provided for the facility.
