ChildServe
Johnston, Iowa |
Client Challenge: Respond to a growing demand for convenient access to non-residential services for families who care for children with disabilities at home; integrate ChildServe’s many community services—including adaptive equipment, homecare, respite, supported community living, therapy, case management and offices—into a single facility.
|
SVPA Solution: A new, 100-percent wheelchair-accessible building promotes the welcoming nature of ChildServe’s services to children in an environment that creates interactive visual and tactile stimulation. Bright and visually stimulating colors adorn the building’s exterior, and calming colors provide a relaxing environment indoors. Specially selected wall and floor finishes are easy to navigate by children with special needs. Amenities include: a large gymnasium with equipment and viewing areas for therapy activities; a large respite center that provides a safe, homelike environment with access to activity areas, playgrounds, kitchen and swimming pool, a fully equipped adaptive equipment workshop for design, construction and adjustment of special equipment for children, and a large training center.
