Johnston Public Library
City of Johnston
Johnston, Iowa
Client Challenge:
Using donated land, create a library space more than five-times that of the existing space using design concepts from a national architect; provide for after-hours access to a community room; incorporate an industrial kitchen.
SVPA Solution:
SVPA translated design concepts into workable construction drawings, which allows for future site development to include new city offices. A new, state-of-the-art, 28,000-square-foot library boasts ample natural light, bright colors, study rooms, conference rooms, and a community room with kitchen and after-hours access. The completed library won citation awards from both AIA Colorado and AIA Denver Chapter in 2003.
