Client Challenge: Provide a feasibility study for multiple options on a new Middle School, one considering renovation and expansion of a 1920’s existing structure and a second considering all new construction. Assist in the passage of a successful Bond Referendum for the construction of a new 73,000 sf Middle School.
|
SVPA Solution: The project consists of a new Middle School serving grades 4, 5, and 6 of the Winterset Community School District. The facility will be constructed on an undeveloped 6.4 acre site along the south edge of the existing Winterset Jr./Sr. High School campus. As part of a City project, a new city street, “School Street,” will be constructed to provide access to the facility. The total building area will be approximately 73,000 gross square feet, with 49,000 s.f. on the ground level and 24,000 s.f. on the second level. Construction began in June of 2009 on this $11 million new facility.
