Bondurant "The Depot" Trailhead
City of Bondurant
Challenge: As Iowa’s recreational trail system continues to grow, the City determined that it was time to create a destination trailhead facility on the trail through Bondurant. The design team’s challenge was to create a replica of the old train depot in town, as the trailhead building would be built on that site.
SVPA Solution: Working closely with City staff, a volunteer committee and a local railroad historian, the design team created a building reminiscent of the old train depot that will serve the community for years to come. Details such as signage and wood framing were carefully emulated to reflect Bondurant’s pride in their history. The trailhead serves as a destination and a community advertisement for cyclists as they rest and re-charge.
