Keokuk High School Renovation
Keokuk Community School District
Challenge: Provide a feasibility study for the Board of Education to weigh options, establish priorities and create a long-term plan. To renovate existing facilities or build new was the key question.
SVPA Solution: “Component 1” was to provide a comprehensive facility assessment of the District’s existing buildings which includes four elementary schools, one middle school, one senior high school, an alternative school, transportation facilities, maintenance facilities and sports complexes. “Component 2” was a feasibility study related to potential recommendations for renovations, consolidations and/or new facility construction. “Component 3” was the implementation of major renovations to the existing high school, including a re-skinning the entire building, new geothermal mechanical system, and additions and renovations to the District’s elementary facilities. The project was completed in phases to allow construction during the school year.
