SVPA Architects Chairman of the Board Scott Hatfield Announces Retirement

Des Moines, Iowa, March 15, 2017 – After 36 years working devotedly at SVPA Architects Inc., Chairman of the Board Scott Hatfield, AIA, IIDA, will retire on March 31, 2017.

Mr. Hatfield joined SVPA Architects in 1981, was promoted to Senior Associate in 1986 and became President in 1993. After 12 years of serving as President, Mr. Hatfield took on his final role as Chairman of the Board in 2005. During his time at SVPA, Mr. Hatfield led teams of architects and interior designers in a variety of project types. His leadership, perspective, enthusiasm and presence will be greatly missed; Mr. Hatfield was a true mentor to his colleagues and peers.

Over the years, Mr. Hatfield’s work has drawn acclaims from clients who appreciate the quality of the buildings and interior spaces he has designed. He was awarded the 2004 Master Builders of Iowa Architect Excellence Award; the 2006 Business of the Year Award given by the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce; the 2007 March of Dimes Foundation Industry Impact Award and The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute A. Arthur Davis Award for Business Leadership; and the 2010 Citizen of the Year Award given by the City of West Des Moines and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Mr. Hatfield has been very involved in the West Des Moines community and has served on several boards, including the Central Iowa Architects; Iowa Interior Design Examining Board; West Des Moines Development Connection Board of Directors; West Des Moines Plan & Zoning Commission; West Des Moines Dollars for Scholars; West Des Moines Historical Society Board; and the West Des Moines School District Foundation for Educational Excellence. Mr. Hatfield earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Iowa State University.

Mr. Hatfield’s work includes some iconic buildings in the Des Moines metro, including: Athene, ChildServe, Rain and Hail, Fred Maytag II Scout Center, Hy-Vee Corporate, Regency West and Wells Fargo West Des Moines Campus & Home Mortgage.

Danielle Williams Receives Iida great plains chapter Member Recognition Award

On Saturday, April 23, at the 2016 Interior Design Excellence Awards ceremony in Cedar Rapids, SVPA Architects Interior Designer Danielle Williams was presented with the Member Recognition Award. This award recognizes a chapter member who exhibits qualities in leadership, mentorship and advocates for interior design excellence in the IIDA Great Plains Chapter.

Danielle has been a member of the IIDA Great Plains Chapter for nearly 8 years, including her most recent involvement as Des Moines City Center Director and Co-chair for the 2015 Design Montage.

Since joining SVPA Architects in 2010, Danielle has provided clients with designs that are functional, yet visually stimulating. She enjoys listening to clients and transforming their needs into a complete design. Danielle has gained valuable experience in a variety of projects at SVPA and has assisted the SVPA team through all stages of design, including finish and furniture selection, space planning, construction documentation and construction administration.

As a member of the SVPA family, Danielle is a registered interior designer in Iowa. In the local Des Moines community, she is a valued member of the Des Moines City Center, Young Professional Connection and Downtown Neighborhood Association.
