The Plex
First Evangelical Free Church
Ames, Iowa

Client Challenge: Create a new campus for the large, rapidly growing congregation and plan for future growth.

SVPA Solution: Phase One of the First Evangelical Free Church, named The Plex, includes a community center. The congregation chose to provide a gym, multi-use rooms, coffee shop and exterior practice areas which will accommodate various sports. The form and function of the building and site complement the existing neighborhood. The building design is contemporary yet will stand the test of time. The facade features a blend of brick, stone, metal panel, metal roof and architectural grade metal siding. The color palette harmonizes with the new prairie landscape. The plans allow for the future addition of a dedicated worship space.
