Blank Performing Arts Center, Simpson College

Our Solution

The Blank Performing Arts Center addition involved a two-story expansion to the south of the existing Blank Performing Arts Center. The addition provides for theatre departmental faculty offices, classrooms and teaching laboratories. Connecting the addition to the existing building is a two-story lobby space, as well as an area for pre and post- performance events. New handicapped accessible restrooms were added on both floors adjacent to the lobby.

The exterior materials were selected to complement the existing building’s concrete and glass exterior, as well as add a contemporary look. The new addition uses a variety of materials to bring about a more human scale and a warmer feeling. Materials consist of concrete, buff-colored limestone panels, white colored aluminum panels and glass.
