Oskaloosa Early Childhood Education & Recreation Center

SVPA Architects guided the process of collaborating with multiple stakeholders in the Oskaloosa community to program and design a state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Center and YMCA recreation center. The design team worked with users to develop lobby space, a gymnasium, group and individual fitness spaces, locker rooms, meeting rooms, two natatoriums, a kitchen and facility support spaces for the YMCA recreation wing. The community also had a vision for improving childcare opportunities and took advantage of the synergies and convenience for families to have access to high-quality programs serving infants, toddlers, three-year-olds, pre-kindergarten, and before / after school programs in a single location with classrooms, meeting rooms and business spaces. The new facility provides a great opportunity for the School District to engage with young families well before the kindergarten registration process.
