Recipients of the 2022 Commercial New Construction (CNC) Excellence in Energy-Efficient Design Award were recognized on September 29th at the Iowa AIA Convention. This award is given for outstanding efforts to reduce energy use in new construction projects, additions and major renovations.

SVPA Architects is honored to be a recipient of this award for our work with the City of Des Moines and IMEG on the recently completed Des Moines Fire Station No. 11. A priority for the City was to make the building energy efficient and sustainable. Our design achieves a verified 53% annual energy savings over code-based design, through use of ground-source heat pumps, roof-mounted solar panels and a largely ambient-lit apparatus bay.

Thank you to MidAmerican Energy Company and Alliant Energy for this award. It was a pleasure to work with the City of Des Moines and IMEG on this project.
